Don’t Worry. But Don’t Wait.
Should you be concerned? Perhaps. If you are concerned, call right away. If your child is on track, you’ll be reassured. If your child needs assistance, you’ll find out now, when it’s the best time to help!
- Put your baby to sleep on his back on a flat, firm surface like a crib or bassinet with a tight fitting bedsheet. Safe Sleep can help protect your baby from sudden infant death syndrome (also known as SIDS) and other dangers, like choking and suffocation.
- Use sleep sacks to keep baby warm while sleeping. Baby’s face is uncovered and baby is in the crib, bassinet or pack n play alone.
- Remove all items from the crib: no blankets, no pillows, no stuffed animals, no bumper pads, or anything else. Baby may enjoy a pacifier.
- Do not put baby to bed with a bottle.
- Avoid sleeping in swing, car seat or bouncy seat. Use a modern crib with close slats. Grandma’s old crib may allow baby’s head to get caught between the slats. Pack and play or bassinets with tight fitting sheets are also fine.
